Helpful Tip

Do not mix with any other product. For best results, use in temperatures between 65°F and 85°F and away from strong breeze and hot sun. Protect surrounding areas with a heavy plastic drop cloth.

Do not use on linoleum, plastic, rubber, asphalt tile, fiberglass or other synthetics. Use over a small area because health and safety risks will increase dramatically when used over large areas. If applying to a vertical surface, begin at the bottom and work up because vapors can accumulate near the floor.

Do not use for stripping floors or apply to other large surface areas because fire and health safety risks will increase dramatically.

  1. Use in a well ventilated area.
  2. Wear chemical-resistant gloves and chemical splash goggles. Shake well and open can slowly to relieve pressure.
  3. Pour into a metal container. Dip a stripping pad or brush in Klean Kutter® and apply to a small area (4 sq ft). Rub gently with a circular motion until the old finish has dissolved and can be wiped away with paper towels or clean rags.
  4. Rinse stripping pad in fresh Klean Kutter® and repeat steps until desired amount of old finish has been removed. A toothbrush, toothpick or stripping brush will help remove old finish buried in recesses.
  5. Surface should be completely clean and dry before refinishing.

CLEAN UP: Return unused stripper to the original container. The work area and tools can be cleaned up with Klean-Strip® Mineral Spirits. Wash arms and hands with cold water and soap.

STORAGE: Store in a cool place, below 90°, out of direct sunlight. Exposure to high temperatures or prolonged exposure to sun may cause can to swell or leak.

DISPOSAL: If container is corroded, rusted or shows other signs of deterioration, dispose of product. Dispose of empty cans and leftover product at your local household hazardous waste collection facility. If one is not available, dispose of in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.

USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION TO PREVENT BUILDUP OF VAPORS. Do not use in areas where vapors can accumulate and concentrate such as basements, bathrooms and small, enclosed areas. Whenever possible use outdoors in an open air area. If using indoors open all windows and doors and maintain a cross ventilation of moving fresh air across the work area. If strong odor is noticed or you experience slight dizziness – STOP – ventilation is inadequate. Leave area immediately. IF THE WORK AREA IS NOT WELL VENTILATED, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. A dust mask does not provide protection against vapors.

FIRST AID - IF SWALLOWED, call your poison control center, hospital emergency room or physician immediately for instructions.

IN CASE OF EYE CONTACT, immediately flush with water, remove any contact lens, continue flushing with water for at least 15 minutes, then get immediate medical attention.

IN CASE OF SKIN CONTACT, irritation may result. Immediately wash with soap and water. If irritation persists, get medical attention.

The stripper dried on my surface, what should I do?
Reapply the stripper liberally and let it stand 15 to 30 minutes. Then scrape and clean the surface with Klean-Strip® Odorless Mineral Spirits or Klean-Strip® After Wash.

Is there a trick to stripping faster?
Scuff the surface of the paint or finish with sandpaper to let the stripper get under the surface quicker. This also helps with difficult-to-remove coatings.

How do you open the can?
Many Klean-Strip® products are tightened to prevent leakage. A pair of channel lock pliers can be used to free the cap.

Are there any removers that are water-soluble?
Yes, Klean-Strip® Strip-X® and Sprayable Stripper are both water-soluble. Klean-Strip® Strip-X® helps remove wood stain and varnishes. Klean-Strip® Sprayable Stripper works on paint, epoxy, and polyurethane.
